EDIT: Will add a poll regarding register-to-play type options added to the server.
Pros: This would craft a server-base community and help make things more efficient.
Cons: It also can be a loss of players if they don't want to have to register to play.
It's up to you to decide.

I registered just now.
Definitely make it register only.
That way only the people who have taken the time to review what the game is about and are part of the active community will be able to join.

I would like register only, but in reality I don't know that that group would be all that large. I think Register Only times would be good for a majority of the time, but then have public times as well.
