Me and Mythic got it up to about 934, just by throwing it to eachother on a flat surface.

also, apparently throwing the football all the way straight up in the air is 10 ft, according to blockland.

You can only throw it so far on the ground from person to person.

The only way I can think people are getting into the many thousands is by jetting upwards and throwing it down. I was at Eksi's server and he confirmed people were doing this, I'm yet to see it done though.

The way it calculates distance is not the distance the ball traveled but the distance between the registered location of the thrower and the catcher at point of catch.

what i'm saying is that even if it is only distance traveled, that ball travels a bit far up when you do that, so 10ft seems weird...

The actual football record only counts when it's from one person to a different person.

You can check this by doing /footballRecord, any attempt using event spawned footballs shouldn't count.

Perhaps I shouldn't have displayed the catch message unless it was between two people.

The ball doesn't take into consideration vertical distance.
