Providing a different experience for different users really isn't acceptable. Some users not having shadows or the like is okay seeing as how it doesn't actually affect gameplay, but bricks appearing for some people and not for other people isn't a viable solution.
Almost every PC now days are 64bit. I see what you mean here though, I was thinking it could be server sided but what if the host has a 64bit version and then the joiner is using 32bit. Blockland is also multi cored, at least I think it is from my CPU meter.

Someone should make a script that turns a compilation of smaller bricks into a bigger one. eg 5x5x1 wall of 1x1s turned into a 5x5. of course you'd have to package it with a lot of new .blbs.
