Blockland Physics: Editable Rigid Body Objects

Yeah, it's really too bad how horrible vehicle physics and collision are in Torque. It'd be really nice if Badspot could include those two classes in the Blockland build; it'd give Blockland a lot more flexibility. However, I'm not looking to do anything too complex (at least not at the moment), so the current physics capabilities should be all that I need.

Also, you have officially won the prize for being the first person to discuss this topic seriously without any form of provocation from other users! A cookie for you, good sir.  :cookie:

Let me break this down for you

first taboo got a little information wrong, there are 3 developers that work on Blockland. Badspot, Kompressor and Rotondo.
--- Quote from: BluetoothBoy on December 12, 2012, 11:55:47 PM ---Ok, the entire first HALF of my idea is possible, because it is already implemented in the game by Badspot himself. Take the ball, for example. It is technically a vehicle; however, it is in no way rideable, and cannot move on its own. This is what I mean when I said I'd like to add "physics" to the game. I'm not really adding anything new, simply taking what exists and modifying it.

let me correct this statement for you
"Ok, the entire idea is only possible if the 3 people who work on Blockland do it, because it would require engine changes. The ball isn't ridable because there are no sit points. This is what I mean when I said I'd like to add physics to the game. I'm not really adding anything new, simply taking what exists and modifying it"

for anyone who doesn't get what hes trying to say

He wants to use nonmountable vehicles to make objects (like chairs, maybe blocks?, tables, trees, you get it).
so heres what I suggest you do
make a vehicle that looks exactly like a 2x4 Brick and make it non mountable. Then you can do cool things like bricks that damage you. Could be neat.

oh once again you have no idea what your talking about. "Rigid Body Objects" is not even close to the right term.

Why don't they upgrade to t3d

NGH

--- Quote from: Badspot on October 05, 2011, 11:51:41 PM ---Reality check:  I worked for garage games for a year.  Kompressor was the Torque technologies director for like 5 years.  We both think "upgrading" to Torque3D is a bad idea.
