Nah, SoftLayer will sell you DDoS guard for not much these days, their automated deployment infrastructure makes it such a breeze to buy and utilise too. Normally a DC will null route an IP, rarely will they take steps to mitigate an attack without prior consent and billing permission.

Not exactly sure what you're saying no to, I was responding to people talking about a nonsensical software filter. You're probably saying that because you try so hard at every opportunity to correct anything I say, but you always fail so hard.

Putting a dam up (DDoS guard) does not leave the path (connection) impassable.
DDoS is sad as forget, hope whoever did it gets found out and revoked.
