A lot of people of several copies lying around, like myself.
So most people trade, or are gifted Dota 2 instead of actually buying it for the $30 it is listed for on steam.

I just went onto the dota 2 store page, and it says i own it. wtf?

Everyone has access to the Dota 2 game.
However, without actually purchasing the game you can't actually play.
