Control limitations on consoles would be a bitch. There are only 17 buttons on a standard xbox controller if you include both joysticks and select. Left stick click would be used for sprinting, right stick click is a bitch to use. You need to remove your finger from left stick to hit select with your thumb and remove your finger from right stick to hit the buttons. you need to remover your index finger from the triggers to hit left or right buttons unless you're the kind of person who uses your middle finger for the triggers. you would need to remove your finger from the left stick to access the dpad, ect. On keyboard you have the advantage of being able to map the keys so that you can hit them all with minimal finger displacement, which is really important in a game like dayz. |

Movement: Left Stick Look: Right Stick Fire: [RT] Action Menu Up/Down: I think this would work fine: [A] to activate, then navigate through using Left Stick (You wouldn't be able to move whilst doing this but you could still use the Right Stick to look around) ADS: [LT] Reload: [X] Team Switch: Un-needed, press [START] and do it manually (Wait, since when are there teams in DayZ?) Watch: This may be a bit inconvenient but I think it's a great solution. Press [B ] to open up 'utilities' menu. It would be a small, user friendly menu with the watch as well as the proceeding 4 items (Left Stick to navigate through it, [A] to select utility needed) Put away gear by tapping the 'Lower Weapon' button [LB] or open the menu again and de-select it. Compass:^ Binoculars:^ Night Vision:^ Map: ^ Gear: [Y] (Use Left Stick to navigate obviously) Step Over: [A] (A would be a general 'action' button) Weapon Mode: [D-Pad RIGHT] Crouch: [RS] 1st/3rd person: [SELECT] Menu: [START] Switch Between Proximity/Global Chat: I'm not sure if this is needed, but [D-Pad LEFT] Did I miss anything? |

The problem is that you would have to stop to do many of these things, which leaves you at a severe disadvantage to Pc players when you are being watched by a sniper. Not saying players will be in joint worlds, but still. I think lower weapon should be RB, as you would be required to remove your finger from RT. map could be selected through the menu and the utilities could be cycled through by using down on the dpad and activated by LB, that way the player can still move. Maybe you could open menu using B and have Y bound to switch weapons. A could be activate or jump, and all doors, cars, ect would be bound to A. Lean left or right could be bound to One of the buttons, as RB would require you to remove your finger to shoot. Maybe lean left could be lean+sprint or something, as i don't think many people lean while moving. |
