Also there is absolutely no reason for someone to hack a home computer.

DDoS army. Paypal accounts. Pictures of you undressing through your webcam. There's lots of stuff hackers go after when they hack into a home computer.

It's still stupid.

It's still stupid.

Thousands of people still hack home networks and steal facebook accounts, paypal accounts and take pictures of people undressing. The point is not that it's stupid, it's that people still gain something from hacking home networks and computers.

It's illegal and cruel.

It's a horrible thing to do. It's even Evil.

And yes.

I'm not condoning hacking, but what I'm saying is it's making cyberpunks money and therefore they make a monetary gain; it's not stupid. It's a plot to make themselves money.

well about 100 ports are open by default as is. ones you use every day without knowing what you are doing.

having a dedicated one for a game isnt half as bad as you are already allowing.

I've hosted for 4 years and nothing has happened to me.

My dad is honestly pretty loving stupid sometimes. He's an IT guy and runs his own business but really has a very limited  knowledge of how networking actually works. He complains about having to fight viruses and all this other bullstuff because he's too god damn lazy to do some damn research or listen to any of my arguments. Before he did a hard reset on the router, and the password was default, I had multiple ports open and nothing happened. I told him that and he still says that it's "potentially dangerous".

I always like how people honestly believe somewhere out there is a hacker just waiting for them to open their ports.  :cookieMonster:

you cant really DDoS/DoS a server unless you have acess to a server hosting service that the player was using
