It's incredibly fast, lightweight, and can be just as intuitive as windows or even mac if you download some of the more user-friendly distros, like Ubuntu. Linux is no longer "that programmer OS" that you see people typing commands into a console in movies. Over the past decade, many significant interface improvements have been made and in Ubuntu Linux you actually can't even access the terminal without searching for it directly, just like in Windows or Mac.
