Author Topic: The EDM Megathread v2  (Read 133625 times)

I've heard it, honestly I can say it's not much to enjoy. It's just this really peculiar and completely pop-ish sounding peace of music, incorporating a generic rhythm that has been heard for a decade. Plus 400,000,000 views. Wow. I'm not a hipster, but I am specific about my music. I would never listen to anything that has that many views, mainly because I'll know it's a watered down pop song.
"I'm a hipster"

This is exactly what being a music hipster is.
You gotta counter the countercounterculture maaaan
Being a hipster does not mean you like an unusual style of music or necessarily announce your preference in music, it means you are hostile and often times prefer a negative-almost to a destructive point opinion on pop culture. Arguing against you, if I were a hipster, I would be cussing out the music itself and maybe even going a little bit further (note that no case is typical).

Hipsters are portrayed nearly correct in the media. They have a hatred towards mainstream media (which I don't, only the insanely culturally bound pop music), and a dislike for people who are fond of mainstream media. I'm not hostile towards anyone in this case; I'm only trying to act as meaningful and sincere as presentable in my argument.

^cool story

Do any of you guys listen to daPlaque, the Brig, or Figure? Ive been digging a lot of their stuff lately. Also, re-fell in love with Knife Party.

Yeah, everyone knows good music isn't popular these days!

That's not what I'm saying.
That song literally has 500,000,000 views. That's a lot. If a song has that many views, i.e. Justin Bieber's Baby etc etc... you know it has to be obnoxious garbage.

I'll listen to something with 10 million views, 50 million views, but not something that has 500 million views, which is incredibly rare.

I'll just say that I don't like being called a hipster and people often accuse me of being one.

That's the problem that people have. A widely-appealing song isn't automatically bad. You can still like something that is incredibly popular because the popularity of the music should not influence how you like the song. If you don't like it, then it's because you don't like it, not because of it's loving view count.

It's perfectly OK to not like certain songs, but popularity is not nor will it ever be a bad thing

i hate the stuff on the popular radio over here
