My family just told me Dubstep / Electro / Dance / Trance / other is just sitting at a mac book pro and pressing buttons :(
And rock music is just plucking strings on a guitar with grungey vocals, and country music is just singing about a farm or a dying wife or something. And pop music is just autotune. And jazz music is just a Annoying Orangeet going brrrrbrbrbrb. And alternative is just edgy lyrics sang by boys that every girl loves. And indie music is literally just off-beat singing with acoustic guitar behind it.
People love to generalize things nowadays. I say you just ignore them :P
