you can get hdmi cables for like six dollars

yeah just buy the cheapest one of the length you want, there is literally no difference between a $4-6 cable and a $500 cable

I sadly only have $4 in a change jar. My grandpa is buying the monitor for me (I guess its because I work in exchange for nothing) and I'd hate to ask him for one. I didn't even ask for this monitor, he just straight up said were going to find a monitor. Once we found one he put it on hold and got the money from his account.
We are picking it up later.

Is it bad if my VGA cable makes bigass sparks when plugging it into my monitor while already connected to my PC?

no that's totally normal. computers always make sparks. every time my computer turns on tons of sparks come flying out of the front

Um, Pie Crust, when are sparks with VGA wires normal?

Also, guys, I finally upgraded to a bigger monitor. I'm currently in a much larger resolution.

wait can't a VGA output 1080p just fine?

It can output it but you won't experience the same way as an HDMI. I think

Absolutely. VGA can output up to 2k at 85Hz.

I decided to do a bit of research, it seems that VGA is capable of that sort of res and such. Makes me wonder though, what is the advantage HDMI has?

Well, it has audio transmission.

BTW, I noticed that my PC isn't grounded. It gave me one hell of a shock. Mystery solved.

Just re-installed Windows 8.1 Professional, now using Bitlocker to protect my drives.
