I was originally going to get a 970 but people over a r/buildapc told me not to because it would be "bad" with 1080p

Mine runs Witcher 3 at high settings (without nvidia hairworks of course) at 1080p just fine. :P

The 970 is not a bad card by any stretch of the imagination.

Most guys i know with a 970 are on 1440p monitors. Playing moat games at max.
1080 should be a joke for any game
