Thanks for the help. Got it working now. Unfortunately the thermal paste was the only thing I got to use, the new case fan is too damn loud and the CPU fan/heatsink doesn't fit. Can anyone recommend me a good CPU fan/heatsink and case fan? I have a Dell XPS-8500 and according to my measurements, the case fan is 90mm and the CPU fan/heatsink is 80mm. I'm not sure if those numbers matter for the CPU fan but then again I'm a stuffty buyer, as seen with the crap I bought. |

Honestly if you can fit one, I would recommend the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103099 If that one doesn't fit then try its smaller brother the Hyper TX3 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103064&cm_re=coolermaster_tx3-_-35-103-064-_-Product Both completely outperform any stock heatsink, for fans I would recommend anything corsair, cooler master, fractal design, nzxt and last but not least noctua. Warning though Noctua fans are probably the best out there, but their pricy and only come in a strange brown color, unless you buy the linus tech tips edition ones or the redux models that are just older models of the fans without the rubber noise dampeners. Personally I'm using NZXT FN140v2 fans on my case, and I use a Corsair H55 Water Cooler with its stock fan. |

K guys. 2011-v3 with broadwell-e upgrade cpus releasing with compatibility on that socket, next month. Or 1151 skylake, with still unknown maybe/maybe not kabylake release and compatibility prob 3-4Q 2016. Im making an extreme gaming mini itx or micro atx little thing. Broadwell feels lovey with quad channel ram and upcoming 10core20thread home pc cpus. (even if not necessarily for gaming purposes lol. But skylake is way morw mainstream with way more mobo and case compatibility. Lesser hardware but easier upgrades. |
