A GPU has many times more cores than a CPU but they are nowhere near the level of a CPU. They can handle doing tons of small tasks all at once, they also just don't have the features of a CPU core. A CPU only has a few cores most often 4 physical cores, these cores however are much more powerful than a GPU's core and can do much more intensive tasks. Also some tasks can't really be done in parallel making a GPU absolutely awful at it. |

--- Quote from: Squideey on January 03, 2016, 04:41:45 AM ---I just wish I knew what to prioritize in a 3D/2D art computer. I need to be able to draw ~12 million tris somewhat smoothely for sculpting. My current computer runs that number at 6 fps. I don't know what CPUs and GPUs to choose without going overboard. And on top of that it would be great to have a computer that's almost quiet during idle, like the one I have right now. --- End quote --- balance both your cpu and gpu and make sure you don't bottleneck either |

Do you actually need 4Gb of Vram? Or is 2Gb plenty? I mean. 4Gb seems so overkill. |
