for nvidia:
first number is the series of card and also pertains to the date, second number is the sub-series, which pertains to performance
660 would be older than 760, and 680 or 690 should be better than both because the second number is higher

9xx is the current series, and 10xx is coming out soon

Yeah I figured that out today
Altrough the 9xx series peform much better on DirectX11 than the previous series.
But ofcourse a 690 would outpeform a 960 on older DirectX version.

AMD cards are p much the same.

all this talk is making my 780 ti feel kinda obsolete
despite the fact that it can still run brand spankin new games on highest settings just fine

when will be a good time to upgrade?
