That an upgrade from Ivy Bridge to Skylake doesn't have much value, and won't make much of a difference except for when playing seriously CPU intensive games with a powerful gwafix card.

No idea what page a thread becomes "too old" so 7 page bump for the save.

Also Thrift shops can be a amazing place to find PC stuff, I found a old LGA775 based Core 2 Quad desktop for 20 bucks with a gt 610 and other bonuses inside.

Opened it up to see why it was marked broken, it had two 1GB sticks of DDR2 at 800mhz and one 1GB Stick running at 1020mhz , removed one stick and it booted up properly, also for some reason the HDD was disconnected.

The strange part is all of the components are like new, the GT 610 shows no dust at all, the fans are brand new, the only things that have dust are the stock heatsink and motherboard.

It may be outdated hardware but its better than nothing, I will be upgrading it to 8GBs DDR2 from its stock 2GB (I already brought it up to 4GB), adding an SSD, changing that stock heatsink for something with heatpipes and probably adding my old AMD HD 6670, I'll also probably switch its case since I'm not a fan of the stock oem case it came in.

This is obviously not for me btw, most likely I'll give it to a family member that needs it, like my bro who only has my old pentium machine that I used to host servers on.

im looking to upgrade my ram, i have 8 gigabytes (ddr 3) on windows 10 64 bit, how much more can i upgrade to? can i even upgrade more?

If you buy the same stick you can. And if there are enough RAM slots ofcourse
But seriously, 8Gb is enough for p much everything.

my brother (epicduke) who is going into IT says i need two slots open, i have four slots, is this true?
