why is that ram called 1x8 when on newegg its just one stick

why do you need 2 sticks? I think 1 stick is easier, faster and you have more upgrade potential, instead of 16gb you can have up to 32 gb at once in the future

the motherboard is dual channel. you need two memory sticks. (i think)

my motherboard is dual channel, i have 1x8gb stick in there and nothing is wrong
