Why the forget did you suggest lower end CPU's?  Even if gaming currently uses less than four cores, chances are that's going to change very soon.

Unless you have a datacenter level connection it doesn't matter. A decent cpu is all you'll need.

You'll want more RAM probably. Is your operating system 32-bit or 64-bit.

you'd probably be best using Linux to host it so there's no extra stuff from Windows bogging the computer down

quick question, is mac osx a bad server hosting os?

if i wanted to buy a small ftb server, would it be cheaper to buy a bad computer and host it from that, or rent one out?
