How do I spring clean a Mac Mini?

My mom has the Midas touch of corrupting and incognito malware infections. She had WiFi problems when she first bought the computer and I ran the System File Checker and it said that her files are corrupt.

I'm thinking of just installing Ubuntu on her next laptop, since she just browses the web.

I installed it on my pc and hers and it was slow since her pc is like 10 years old and she was calling it a virus since the pages didn't load for some odd reason its actually really funny
