Your processor is older than your video card, why not upgrade that first?

thats what i have been contemplating but i have heard of many stories of people chipping their cpus because they failed to delid it, but i also have the possibility of bringing my computer to a shop nearby so that they can upgrade the cpu for me
im also not familiar with amd cpus, and i dont know what amd cpu will match to the power of the intel i5, which i would want to get if i had a compatible mobo

You dont de-lid a cpu to replace it, you only do that to switch the thermal paste on the cores below the cap (even I would not do that). All you do to uninstall a new cpu is take off the fan, open the clamp, and pull it out. To put one in, you gently place the cpu in, close the clamp, and and put on the fan with thermal paste.

thats sounds pretty damn easy, thanks for reassuring me, but i still dont know what cpu i should get
i cant get an intel cpu because my mobo doesnt support it and i dont want to take the risk of wasting a stuffton of money
i need a reccomendation for a cpu that will match the power of an intel i5, or more

i have done some research and i think i want to get the amd phenom ii x4 965, because it is a good competitor to the intel i5
now one more question, if i would go ahead and get the GTX 650 Ti BOOST, would that be a good pair?

I would wait until the 760s as those come out soon.
