Someone give me some parts for a £200-300 home server please which has an AMD Processor and a 500gb HDD.

Thanks

so supposedly the new r9 290x gets extremely high temps, graphical glitches are common, and its not the quietest
imo im starting to feel like the gtx 780 at 50 bucks less might not be too bad of a deal...

1) You would have known all this a week and a half ago if you actaully read a full review of the card instead of just looking at a single graph

2) The 290X gets higher temps by design, the new silicon layout can handle it. It doesn't (and isn't supposed to) throttle until 95 degrees, other cards begin to throttle/up fans at 85

3) As a direct result of #2, the 290X does have some issues with loud fans (if you change the settings to allow for loudness), and throttling is expedited by more than one card running at once. However, only the stock reference cooler is available for the card right now. AMD has not had as much experience as nvidia in the high end gpu sector of the market, and they are not known for making exceptional coolers like nvidia is. However, I am 100% sure that once partnered vendors start releasing their own coolers the thermal situation will improve dramatically.

4) Graphical glitches are common only because of the new drivers. There's nothing inherently wrong with the physical card that would prevent these glitches from being fixed by updated drivers, you have to remember that this is a brand new card based on an entirely new architecture

Alright guys, i have about a $130 budget, and am looking to upgrade my video card, which one should i get?
My specs are
Intel Core i5 CPU @ 3.33GHz
4GB RAM
Nivida Geforce 9500 GT

Would this be a good idea?

wait till you have at least $200

I'm planning on upgrading my computer soon, I plan on getting a new CPU and GPU.

I'm thinking of going with somewhere around the $400~ price range in total.
So far I'm considering:

FX-8320

and

GeForce GTX 760
for $420~
Going with these unless someone has a better idea? (I'm sticking with an Nvidia card)

Reposting this because I only had one person's opinion on these. If one part will be downgraded there has to be a worth while upgrade to the other part.

Ok I want to buy a new GPU Card (MSI GTX 660 Twin Frozr, 2GB http://www.msi.com/product/vga/N660-TF-2GD5-OC.html#/?div=Overview)
I'm not sure if my PC meets the requirements. I've seen people saying you can use a PCI 3.0 GPU on a 2.0 motherboard.

Motherboard:
MEDION MS-7707
Processor:
i7-2600 3,40 GHZ
RAM:
8GB
PSU:
450W

Running 64 bits

pls check

Just a quick question: Is a NVIDIA GTX 680 better than one of their 700 series or is it the other way around?

Google told me 3.0 PCI cards are backwards compatible with 2.0, therefore it should work.

Depends on the card.

Edit: The 770 and 780 are better, the 760 however is less powerful.

the only thing that's bugging me is the PSU, wattage is low and some higher-end cards might go over the limit
and instead of the 660, get the 270x, its way faster for the same price

680 < 780
680 ~= 770

It's probably fine

Yea, you can run a pci 3.0 card in a 2.0 slot. The performance difference is only a few fps fewer.

That depends. The 770 is better than the 680 but the 760 is worse. The 700 series is newer but individual cards vary

This one?

It looks better, yes, but can my PSU handle it?
also what's up with the 6 pin slot things I keep reading about?

i really doubt that your psu wont cause problems, i would really suggest getting around 650w just in case
afaik amd cards tend to eat up a lot more power than nvidia

I would recommend at least a 550w for it.
