Did you just give me a command? How about.. no.
well you've just labeled yourself a complete idiot anyways

I remember the days when not following a command didn't mean not being an idiot. I miss those days.

Also, I think you guys assumed the CPU's only use was for Minecraft. Dont be silly, Im using other applications and editing videos too. Also, I multitask all the time and usually have video editing going on in the background of a game or program im using. The Phenom couldnt handle rendering videos and playing games at the same time, and I doubt the i3 could either. Maybe the i5, but I dont like being underpowered.

Because, good sir, Minecraft eats your RAM up like a jar of cookies. That is why. Its also very CPU intensive, and Ill be damned if I settle for less.

Dont even think about using this quote to disprove what I said either. I never said it was only for Minecraft.

you thick motherforgeter

MC is not CPU or ram intensive.

tell me about a single game on the market which uses more than 8gb ram and runs noticably faster on an i7 than on an i5. tell me

Dolphin on max native and shading settings on 1920x1200 fullscreen (4x native, 16x AA, 8x anti, crop and widescreen hacks, also if I am using OpenGL instead, the ASCII filter, which just absolutely kills my phenom II), on the more intensive Wii games, and even then with stuff running in the background. Like Steam or Firefox or Sony Vegas/insertvideoprogramhere rendering a video.

You haven't played many of the more crowded modpacks then, I guess.

you haven't answered my question

At the store today me and my dad were discussing monitors, what are some good monitors that me and him can look into in the future?

you haven't answered my question

You dodged what I said earlier. I am not just playing games, I am multitasking.

tell me about a single game on the market which uses more than 8gb ram and runs noticeably faster on an i7 than on an i5. tell me

This word above presupposes that one program is going to be singled out and ran alone among both the i5 and the i7. You deliberately tried to change the topic by presupposing that I bought the i7 to play just games alone.

Also, depends on what you want. If you want bang/buck, you should go with a 1080p monitor for the most pixels per cents. Anything beyond that such as 1920x1200 (which I have invested in myself because I prefer 16:10 > 16:9) is noticably more.

On the other hand, you have technologies upcoming like 4K, which if you want something like that, you're going to have to dish out a little more. like a lot more

yes except opening multiple programs doesn't mean you are going to take advantage of hyper-threading, which is the only difference between the i5 and i7

And I require that hyperthreading for things like producing videos. Sony Vegas Pro, for example, which really pushes the 4770K's hyper threading for encoding.

We basically need something that looks good and isn't pricy as hell. My dads looking for something to use a kereoke machine monitor, and I need something newer. (I'm using a old CRT)

How much are you willing to spend on a monitor and do you have any specs on your GPU (if you have a discrete video card)?

how is his video card going to affect the monitor choice

how is his video card going to affect the monitor choice

Two reasons. 4K support, and the program they are using for "kereoke" is completely unknown to me, im not taking any chances with it (even though it most likely doesn't use a drop of GPU power, im not supposed to assume.)

Mainly, if they want a 4K monitor, they need a GPU that supports it.

So the question here is, Alyx, do you want a standard 1080p monitor or something more like a 4K monitor? But considering your "pricy as hell" statement earlier, I'd like to think 4K isnt possible at the moment, as Newegg's cheapest 4K PC monitor is $1,199.99. But those will go down over time as more 4K monitors are released.

So, with that in mind, you'd probably want a 1080p monitor something like an Acer G6 G276HLGbd, a 27" 1080p monitor for $199.99. 1080p monitors are between $100-200 usually.
