How can I edit the dragon wings mod?

Can I take out the model for the dragon wings and add a new model?
If so, could someone give me a step-by-step tutorial please?

According to the add-on, it would be called "wing.dts"

I'm thinking of just editing that file by replacing the wings model with my own, but when I open it, it just shows a bunch of random symbols and a lot of question marks.
