why the hell is their stuff so damn expensive anyway
Because its professional software..? Not meant for kids that want simple editing software. Its ment for Graphic Designers, and other stuff in that feild of work... The Creative Field.

Because companies can afford the suite in its entirety.

In bulk.

Hell, my school's computers are loaded with the entire suite.

Well you could always try CS2 considering that it's free now.
