Time traveler sounds about ten times more enjoyable and original than anything else. I think the work would be worth it.
If you're up to it, consider some other times and locations. The Renaissance, world wars. Maybe a parallel version of 3000 A.D. (one prosperous and clean, one anarchic and full of remnants of the past)
I think hide and seek may also be a great idea, if the gamemode would be shared and applied to other builds.

No. I have no idea what tardis is. And Doctor who is Time Travel, except your not doctor who, and builds are completely different.
