--- Quote from: Conan on January 13, 2013, 08:29:03 PM ---personally i like the small community since it means that boards are slow enough to be tracked on a day-to-day basis and new stuff isnt' quickly drowned out by other newbs posting things not nearly as good. --- End quote --- I'll chip in a personal experience here. I used to exclusively follow the RTB forums back in the day. I felt like the Blockland forums had a way too fast pace, I couldn't keep up with it at all. On RTB forums I could read every new post. Then that was shut down and I was forced the transfer over to here. Today, I feel the forum pace is too slow. Sure I don't follow every forum, I outright ignore Community Projects and Drama, but my opinion about these forums have done a full 180 from those RTB days. I wouldn't mind a few thousand more users to speed up the pace here. |

Blockland is poorly documented, not marketed very well, and anyone I've shown the game to either buys it and stops playing after joining the forums, or sees the forums at gets put off. I think the late teen / adult movement hurts it. |

People often make fun of the game, primarily cause the community is so loving handicapped |

Okay I don't like dragging mc into this but. Notch is successful. Badspot is not. They're both sandbox games. (even though very different) However.. same genre. Mc is now the bigger game than bl. Thus bl is unable to gain popularity as mc is the dominant sandbox game. As they are compared, and mc got a bigger fanbase.. bl is unable to make big progress in the business Now, the question is. What did Badspot wrong? As we clearly can see, mc is one of the hippest games to be found. Sandbox games are appreciated by the crowd. So why didn't bl explode in popularity just like mc did? Notch succeeded. Badspot did not. I don't think the problem is in the product. I think blockland could had been a just as big success as minecraft if it weren't for something. That something. Notch did something that Badspot failed to do. Marketing perhaps? What do you think? |
