In regards to vehicles, maybe make any sort of motor-vehicle radiate sound if it's driven? Often times in any zombie game, zombies run to a car engine like moths to a light, an rightly so: it's noisy, it means food, and it comes in a nice, neatly packaged container called a "car"
Also maybe have gas?
