Author Topic: Another Camera add-on  (Read 2246 times)

We have playercontrol and camera stuff, so we can now keep our camera in place while we move around. It's great for making videos right?

However there are still a lot of things we can't do without a 2nd person, or carefully timed flying camera events. Some of those things I think could be taken care of with another add-on.
For example, if we want a camera to follow a player, how would we do that? One option could be to have an add-on that let's us turn our camera using the mouse or something, but not the player. Sort of like spying on other players with admin, only on yourself.
It could work like this- you push a button, and as long as you're holding that button you can move the camera with the mouse to the position you want it, then let go to lock the camera's position. Or maybe to make things more simple, you could just push a button to turn the camera around the player. Then you can move the player around and the camera will follow at that angle.
What would also be good with this would be the ability to zoom in AND out, and then for the camera to stay in that position unless moved again.

I don't know if this is possible or not, since I haven't ever seen any mod do something similar to this before. But I would really like this

Yes yes yes and yes, did I said yes? Yes.

What would also be great is if we could somehow go up and down without having to look down or anything.

i still can't find a camera mod that allows my player to continue moving as i look at him, but doesn't start loving moving around a minute later.

You need to go into admin ball mode and then use the hotkey.

A partial solution to your suggestion using that add-on:

Type /spy your-name, rotate the camera and press the hotkey.
As said in the topic, it works with any "camera control mode".
Even things set with camera events support the hotkey!

partially, I guess I could do that. But I'm looking more for something that follows the player. And while it's probably unnecessary, it'd be even better if it could be something that zooms in and out.

But I'm looking more for something that follows the player.

It does follow the player?

And while it's probably unnecessary, it'd be even better if it could be something that zooms in and out.

A temporary option could be changing your FOV.

Wait what,
it does??
Cool I'll try this later, thanks

Wasnt there an addon for this? I swear I have it, I have pretty much every addon :/

How about some sort of Freelook Lock, like when you look around and then you keybind something and then it locks your camera, and still moves and chases you like always, but not behind you, that would be very handy for driving scenes, something like when your spying someone without moving the mouse.

That's exactly what Control Player would do.

So I tested out using /spy and control player. It works very well, except that you can't do much while in that mode. if you click or do a lot of other things it will automatically reset to the normal view again.

It's called PathCams. Search for it.

Yeah, I know. I use those and I like them, but it can be difficult to time it all right. I'd rather just have something sort of like what I did with /spy + /controlplayer, only with the ability to zoom in and out, and the ability to click without the viewpoint being reset
