Author Topic: Well, my dad is giving up farming  (Read 2727 times)

What are his ideals?
Hard work, quality product, knitting a close community, keeping good humor.

Maybe farming wasn't really his thing? :S
I hope he doesn't get in too much money trouble.
Farming is his thing

Wait, why'd he get divorced?
That seems like it'd make his life harder.

obviously not?
His passion, his idea of a worthwhile life.
He couldn't make it work.

He and my mom started to clash personally. They kept it to a minimum when my sister and I were little but it eventually came to a head. My mother is a lawyer and she didn't enjoy farming at all.

My mother's family were farmers. It seems weird he'd be going bankrupt though, the US Government is totally gay for farmers and there's like a billion financial aid incentives that they give them.

Has your dad tried any of those?

Yeah he did. He applied and got some of those. I think he's just worked too much and probably been too generous as well. He goes and helps people out a lot.

There is a reason employers exist, it's because they hit the "wall" and decided to pay people to help.

maybe he should just work on a farm rather than manage one?

Possibly. That still won't satisfy what he's wanted at all though.

well he can give it up for a living, but he can still do it for himself/household.

dont need machinery and tons of animals for yourself. do it the laid back way.

Or maybe he should hire some help.

And if all that don't work then I guess you could just play Harvest Moon :l.
Seriously though, it sounds like your father just does what he enjoys doing no matter where it takes him, but even if it goes down the wrong path he always manages to bounce back with something else.

I wouldn't be too worried about him, but help him out where you can

hopefully everything works out

Maybe he could focus on one area. So he could sell of the animals use the land for more crops.

I help whenever he asks, but he doesn't ask very often :c
