Author Topic: steam now has offline messaging  (Read 3442 times)

His point is that if you're in beta and you try sending a friend offline messages, it won't work.  At least this is what I'm interpreting.

Which is kind of right.  It's great but I'd rather wait til its officially released so then EVERYONE has this capability.
That's his post that's above mine, which isn't the one I quoted.

Wow... You could still do that without it... Argh, is that seriously the reason? Might as well make chat like Cartoon Network's site over a decade ago. (Anyone remember that? You had a list of preset statements and you selected from them. It was horrible.)

On the bright side, did anyone else notice Steam doesn't seem to be as much of a resource hog?

they removed /me >:(
This was dealt with on the last page already.

I hope the beta just breaks /me and isnt permanent, i use it all the time

"Removed "/me" chat command, which allowed some users to modify the color of their chat text"

ignorance is bliss
since when did steam have the /me command?

Since always pretty much

You can't have "Steam" in your name.

Definitely getting those bugged messages with the beta. I suddenly got a notification from someone saying "Hey," but when I checked, they hadn't said anything to me and probably wouldn't have. Then I realized that looked similar to something I'd send, so... that's a strange, annoying bug. But yes, it is the Beta, so that's to be expected.

Although I'm still getting this loving problem where Steam starts telling me to close stuff before validating when I'm not even touching anything. It mounts up these messages like 10 times over sometimes for no apparent reason. Forcing it to redownload the .blob files temporarily fixes it, but why does it always have to break?

I've never had this happen. :v

Steam Beta updated, and the first thing it did upon start up with do that problem. It's really frustrating, but lets see what happens if I reset the .blobs now. Maybe Steam Beta won't let it happen again...

Edit: Wow, okay, forget this. It still happened anyway, right on start up. That's bullstuff. :panda:
