Should NPCS be added to the game? In survival camps? They wouldn't give quests but they would be agressive to people who have attacked them in the past and would keep an area clear of zombies.

Yes, having NPCs patrol areas and have basic interactions would be good.
No, it should only depend on players.

Having armor would ruin the point of being a Hunter. Axes don't exist in North, adding a lot of food to it would ruin farmer, and hopefully he will have a weaker bow in the future but at the moment the only bow we have is very powerful.
"Axes don't exist"? What the hell? Secondly, I expected the hunter was going to be lightly armored, Zealot.

The military is lightly armoured. Giving a hunter armour would slow it down so they couldn't hunt very well, we don't have an "Axe "weapon, just swords, trying to keep it simple.

Giving any more than what they already have would make them stronger than the military and that would just be dumb as they are supposed to be able to deal large amounts of damage but not take very much.

Also, what hunter wears armour?

If we gave hunters armour they wouldn't be able to hunter other players because it would slow them down.

Besides, with so few armour types I really don't want to make them easy to obtain. Military has some but they don't get much else. Giving another class armour PLUS it's other weapons would just be overpowering the military and pretty much everyone else.

I'm trying to balance the classes.

It just sounds so much better :(

You've never seen armored hunters in other games? What do you do when mauled by a bear?

You run away.
A true hunter has courage and faces the creatures of the wild with valor >:I

Answer is no. Archer's, at best, would have leather armor or chainmail. North is based around a small, cold-biomed village. This isn't the largest empire in all of France, with 20 large navy ships and a brigade dedicated to carrying hand cannons. These are farmers and peasants in a small, mountainous area, with a small military.

edit: further, that's bad balancing.
Ranged unit should be able to take stuff out AT A DISTANCE. Being that it has a thrown weapon, that should suffice until a weaker bow is developed. Swordsmen, however, have to risk the loss of health to fight. They NEED armor. Archers should be staying up high or out of the way, to avoid death.

Fine...
Tell you what.
Prove to me archers have bigger balls than a swordsman, and I'll learn to code and model with no help at all, I will make unobtainium armor with diamond accents, and I will force zalot to give archers that armor.

I say that because I know you can't. The fear of dieing when your 100 feet up on a parapet with a wooden bow and about a dozen arrows and hundreds of others around you, is nowhere near as frightening as being a swordsman on the frontlines, running forward to meet an enemy equally armed. You have a 50/50 chance of getting killed, and after that you will either be wounded, lose a limb or just have to fight someone else.

Let me think...

>Forrest is burning

>In a field

>Profit...?

Let me think...

>Forrest is burning
swordsman and archer are in forest
Archer runs out because of light armor
Soldier superheated due to metal armor and practically walked 10feet, then died

>In a field
an archer. That would mean he would have a clear view at any attacker. A swordsman would be butt forgeted in a field, because he has no ranged attack.

>Profit...?
no.

:l

I think a better solution would be not to fight bears with a bow and arrow and no armour.

The hunter doesn't spawn with armour, but he can definitely obtain it. It isn't very hard to find light armour.

The fields were where most medieval battles were fought, tsk, tsk, do your research.

Your an idiot. I cannot even comprehend where you get the idea that a long ranged unit would have it HARDER out in a field. Being out in the open means they have a perfect view of EVERYTHING around them. I cannot spell this out any other way for you.

Other than the fact that all of their comrades are right next to them? You have a 50/50 chance of hitting an ally.

Got ya.
