imo runescape was at its best during like 2008-2009.

The issue with runescape was not that they improved the graphics or added the GE, it's that they added a ton of useless stuff, neglected a lot of quests and minigames, and they completely changed styles. The style change would have been more bearable had they added some more content that wasn't bullstuff, but they didn't really add anything original. Then they started trying to syphon as much money out of the games in less than moral ways and that killed the game for me.

I can't tell you how many times Jagex used to say that f2p was in no way a demo.

Ever since 2008 it's been going downhill with more and more being shoved into the paid version that f2p isn't even fun anymore. They haven't added major new content to it in years, the stuffty excuse for a new "balanced" combat system aside.
