Instead of flipping each face you can select the model in object mode and hit ctrl n

The normals are fine on the model.

Edit: I just tested, the blend I provided works correctly.

thats cute except it isn't always perfect when detecting which sides are facing out and which are facing in, especially for model like the wagon i showed.

Well I never had a case where blender failed to figure out where the normals are supposed to go until now
