* No tutorial on how to make add-ons so that they don't break the game. - I wish Badspot would just make his own scripting tutorial.  Blockland is practically its own engine at this point, and he's the only one who really has a list of all of the resources within the game. What we can and cannot do.  Until we have something like that, I fear the quality of my add-ons will never surpass that of a kid tinkering around in the basement with a roll of duct tape, a few sticks, and a large pile of contraptions made by other people. Those other contraptions also being made of duct-tape and dead tree matter.

Look into Blockland's default add-ons

now look back to me

now lo-

The default add-ons contain lots of // (comment lines) explaining what different values mean. If you read the script  of said things you would understand how modding works.

Chrono:

Also, there is NO game that gives a mod making tutorial. (Edit: Mostly because there is no 'true' way of coding everything. There's always more and more to learn.)

The only thing I would want from badspot about modding is more of the default source, which he's only ever released for one function.

I've been through those add-ons, and they are very helpful.  A good place to start.  However if I want to do anything truly amazing I have to look elsewhere, where there aren't really any of those neat little commentated lines.

And I have yet to see a game quite as fun to modify as Blockland.  While I'm sure Badspot is really busy, I wish he'd give at least a little more support to the add-on makers.  Also, while there are no true ways of coding, there are certainly good ways of coding.  And if you can make a game like Blockland... you certainly have a good way of coding.

You can make a good game with extremely stuffty, overcomplicated code.

The 'good way' to code is to logically create your own code. Rather than live from someone else's work. (thus never actually understanding how it works)

I'll even bring your brown townogy into it.

With sticks and a roll of duct tape, and a pile of other sticks and duct tape, you could make plenty of things.

A longer stick for reaching things.
A swing.
A long claw that can grab things.
A fire.
A toy.
A foundation for a model house.
A fishing rod.
A spear.
A lock.
A trap.
Or even use it to hold a window open.
To fix a chair leg.
A suit of wooden armor.

This is the problem. You're not thinking enough. You just look at what you got and don't think of anything unless someone puts it on your lap. I shouldn't have to show you that you can bundle a few of the sticks together with the tape, then use the tape as ropes to hang from a tree so you can swing on it. If you wanted a swing and had sticks and duct tape, you should be able to figure it out.
