Exactly.

A better penalty would have to be in place rather than losing items or money, because they're mostly easy to get back, and it's just an annoyance.

Basically why pixels mean nothing to me. It's the nice items I got (though only a few were actually rare) that make a difference to me.

My idea is a 100% loss of pixels on death, but you can store and retrieve them for free in your ship. That way the penalty of death is directly tied to the reward for what you're doing at the time.
