What happened to the quality of servers?

It's not like you have to re-build the server again and again, if the build was in Slate (which it should have been in the first place; Bedroom was cool but was bad for real building.) And I have tried to build a good server. Nobody joins. I have seen quite a few good-looking servers near the bottom of the list, but they have no players. Why? Because they're all playing RPs.

Loads of time ago I hosted a server, and it's pretty much just all about patience. If you wait long enough, people will come. Then more people. And more. The community will build itself over time, like any other game. It's not all going to happen at once.
But then again, that was a long time ago so I'm not sure how it is now.
Sounds like Blockland needs a good zombie survival or house build.

I personally find it different know. I made a really bad TF2 build when I first started playing and got it up to 30 players over time. But that was back when we didn't have 27039672 million RP and Renderman servers. Nowadays, a server doesn't even build players unless:
A) It was made by a famous Blocklander like Glass
B) It was already a really popular server and achieved itself a good rep, like Pecon's Boss Battles
C) It's an RP and you roll the D20 and it lands on a prime number above 5

How long do you host before you give up?

Brian Smith never fixed it, it's still the same old abuse-able script which was originally released, it's best to wait for Badspot to release his version of bots. All that Brian Smith did was change the names and fixed some OnMinigame* events.
