sounds interesting and for the cloudiness, in the environment section of the admin menu couldent you just amp up the fog a bit?
other wise it sounds quite like a good idea to have some massive snow coming down... (off topic) make for a good game mode involving some blockheads fighting off a monster (probably a yeti) who could see easily see through the snow and fog , not like the blockheads with limited vision and good guns :)
