No, but we're not talking about taking physical objects and dividing them into groups, we're talking about statistics. You can overlap statistics, it's been done before.
God damn edits.
No, it's just subtracting the excess from 100.
Are you sure that statistics have been overlaped? Prove it.
Also your math doesn't prove that that 15 percent speaks spanish, And Yes we are talking about physical objects because these numbers are about people and last time i checked people were physical things that you can touch and count and divide into groups. You cannot subtract part equation from one side without doing the same from another. A statistic is an equation.
95 + 20 = 115 (From here, I subtract 15 from each side because that is how you actually do it in math)
95+5=100. 100 is the new total, but that means that the spanish speaking population is now only at 5. However, I can also subtract that 15 from the english speakers, but then it wouldn't be the specified 95 anymore.
When you are talking about a specific number, you refer to it as 100%, or the whole. When you divide it in half, both halves equal 50%. If a percentage is over 100%, you are saying that the number is increasing or exceeding the normal. (For example, the engine is running at 120% would mean that is is running 20% better than it's maximum efficiency)
We are spamming this thread, so im done with this argument.
