When you say it only allows me to connect via wire, what does that mean? Also, my computer and desk is across from my router, and my sister's stuff and computer things are in the way of my router. There are also a ton of wires where my router is. It would be a lot of hassle to bring my computer to my sister's work area and plug in my computer.

Wait, you say you have Optimum Online? As far as I can tell, they only offer modems for their internet customers. Are you sure that the Optimum box is your router, not your modem?
