Made some awesome progress. I'm working on making combat even more fluid and incorporating abilities for multiple playstyles.

A sort of info post:
There will be two types of "energy", physical and spiritual. Physical energy is used for physical abilities, like slashing and other weapon skills. Spiritual energy is for taking the non-physical and converting it into physical energy. This ability goes by different names in various worlds (Chakra, Haki, Mana, Magicka, Rukh), and each world has it's own methods for manipulating and working with this energy. This energy is used to imbue weapons with fire, manipulate the elements, and tap into the power of other realms.

Working with both energies allows you formulate your own playstyle. The more worlds you explore, the more you learn about manipulating each of the energies, and the more abilities you learn. Monks may teach you how to fight through thought, and a wandering ronin might teach you Iaido techniques. You may learn to manipulate fire from a lost cult, or learn the no-sword style on a seemingly deserted island.

Using a combination of various abilities lets you create a unique playstyle, or mimic one you've seen. Combine the thought-fighting you learned from the monks with the fire manipulation of the lost cult, and you can play as Combustion Man. Combine a wind-dance style with the Iaido technique and you can play as a swordsman who cuts the air, sending quick gusts by drawing your sword.

The sensei system will allow you to teach other players what you've learned. If you are a frontline adventurer (someone who explores the worlds before they are stabalized), you can bring back the teachings of other worlds, and offer to teach newer players or market yourself as a trainer. but others may believe that the skilled hawk hides its talons.

i'm looking forward to starting up major work again. hopefully i can keep updating soon!

I don't think the server is up...

Thank god, now I don't have to worry about poorly done romance/comedy scenes.

just finished item quality. the quality of an item can affect how it performs. when it comes to smithing items now, people won't just be smithing the same thing. this will make it important to find a skilled smith so you can get higher quality items.

you can also name your weapons. you can choose a name upon smithing it, or use a naming stone on the weapon. once named, an item cannot be renamed, so the weapon will have a history of its own.

you will not be limited to a class, but you will be able to choose a starting class "path" when you join to get a boost in what you might want to be. If you pick the swashbuckler path, you might start with some fast combo skills and a swift sword, and if you pick the cleric path, you might start with a staff and some healing spells. these paths only give you initial boosts so you can get started forming a style that fits your interest.

you could be a jack of all trades, but it takes much more time than specializing in something. you would have to make more trades, loot more items, distribute resources over multiple crafts, and carry around many types of equipment. but say, if you want to specializing in being an archer/chef, you would only really need light gear and some cooking equipment, and you wouldn't be worried about collecting sword skills.

nice bump, can't wait to see this done

Sounds like good stuff Heed, I can't wait until it's done! Keep up the great work!

Please don't let this die. I really want to see this happen.

Willing to help. I can build pretty good.

If you want to help, PM me with some work and details.

progress will resume after next tdm is done. just bumping so it doesn't die, sorry. will hopefully post useful later

We could use more terrain people for tdm, or you heed since you do terrain as well.
