Getting a MacBook Pro Retina 15-inch, but shaders?

It all really depends on what you'll be using it for. More than text is improved, if you're going to be doing things like photo editing or even video editing. Also, resolution can be changed on a whim.
But you've also got a point. The price jump for a retina Mac means you need to really utilize the retina resolution and pixel density.

Sadly, there is nothing really out there that is a solid "gaming laptop"
if you want gaming power, unfortunately you have to be going with a desktop.

I don't think overpriced is a valid argument in this case.
