Author Topic: Does resetting a router affect any of the following things?  (Read 1055 times)

just hold the reset pinhole with a needle or something for like 10 seconds.

the only thing that might be plugged into the modem is a phone line if your house has phone service through the cable company. if it is, so what, the house will be unable to make or recieve calls for 5 minutes.

the tv isnt involved with the modem.

It isn't involved with the router either?
Anyway, I have 2 different services.
One is AT&T for phoneline.
One is Xfinity for what I believe router things.

even if the tv does come through the modem. so what. it will be down for 2 minutes

i have comcast/xfinity and i reset the modem like monthly for being stupid on me.
it never affects the tv, that is on 24/7

but god forbid i unplug the damn dvr. gotta wait loving half an hour for the thing to reset the guide

What is the difference between a router and a modem anyway?

A modem actually connects you to the internet while a router splits the internet via ethernet or wifi.

So they both have nothing to do with cable tv?

For example, when I reset the /modemrouter combo, it wont shut off TV?

Why are you over complicating this? You did this in the other thread, too.
And every other thread he's made about questions he's had.

um

are you serious

So they both have nothing to do with cable tv?
Nothing at ALL.

Nothing at ALL.
Ok, that's good, anyway, my router has cables in it like this
There is-
-Ethernet cable in it
-another thing that has to do with Ethernet
-a cable that goes through some special circular outlet that the cable guy put in when he came here
-power cord

Just reset the damn thing. Holy crap.

I swear I already answered these questions in the duplicate thread you have in Help right now..

My bad, I forgot to look.

My bad, I forgot to look.

This is why you don't make multiple threads at the same time.
