The less of a role the force has in a game, the better it is. That's why Republic Commando, Battlefront, and Empire at War are so great, you don't have handicapped special snowflake space wizards running all over the place throwing starships around with their minds.
(Dark Forces and its ilk also get a pass because you can use things other than a laser sword and brain beams)

I didn't really like the recent stuff anyway so the fact that it's gone means that they won't mangle anything else.

That's your opinion. Personally I love using the force in games, but I use it sparingly.
