Steering is really hard. Landing on Islands is even harder. The game needs some sort of propeller items

Some islands have grappling hooks on them so you can pick up items and anchor yourself to an island really easily
Also apparently there's massive winds at the north pole so you'll need grappling hooks there too.

The Islands only generate around the balloon :/ so jumping out at a high height and landing on an island is not the best idea, since when your balloon gets too far away the island disappears.
