No, the issue is that people think updates require downtime lol. That should rarely be the case, particularly with entirely web-based systems like Blockland. If you're having server downtime to update a web application you're doing it wrong.

So what went wrong with the master server?

As Ephi said, it's most likely not an update, rather a server downtime.

You're probably right, the only thing I know from using CentOS (Badspot uses Redhat I believe, centos is based on redhat) and probably almost any OS is that if you make changes to certain services you are required to restart it which I guess is what could have caused the downtime? Again this is probably for only certain stuff such as things with the website I am guessing,
