Author Topic: Terrain (OH stuff I JUST WENT THERE)  (Read 3715 times)

I think some people can build quite well but have no motivation to do so. Likeme.
what would motivate you then
and other builders

does bribes work

how about threats

infact
why do people build in the first place

Thanks for bringing back memories. :)
this is a big issue here

memories

i think that really is a good bit of the issue for some people

it's a lot like an old toy that you have to throw away

I think some people can build quite well but have no motivation to do so. Likeme.
totally, we've got some talent

they just need a reason to use it

I don't see how this suddenly makes them more creative builders, it just makes stuff a lot more time consuming.
A lot of people liked terrain since it gave them a big environment to explore and build in, and it allowed very interesting rpgs and tdms to be made:
you're applying these very generally and it's making me uncomfortable

exploration was more of a time-waster thing tbh

rpgs and tdms can probably be more interesting with bricks if people know how to do so

terrain+interiors could be p cool for things though
just not so many things as you're implying

I really don't think S&S was worth it.

Half of the community can's even see them, there are so many bugs that we still have due to the update, and the number of players has gone down due to people leaving the game.

I myself thought they looked nice when they were first brought forward, but after the update was released I couldn't see them, and there were so many bugs.

Just my opinion.

is this the part where everybody yells at you like an ass

I think so.

I doubt it will happen, there's been a similar percentage of players who are good/bad/ok at building since 2007, removing more options for building won't actually help.
people who hosted maps and plopped down some spawns and maybe some structures if they were appropriate need to build more to get the same sort of gameplay

yes, it is more work

yes, it may be a bit more inconvenient

but it's what people will get used to and begin doing after awhile

it hasn't even been a year yet, be patient

Truthfully i dont think bricks blend well with terrain either...

i'm not sure you quoted the right post lol

the basis for your arguments is ~75% garbage (to put it rather rudely)

your 'decent server' thing is a non-issue and you're basically just stating you personally enjoyed them more pre-v21 because nobody's made a good X since then because they relied heavily on terrain and interior

the fps issue i've already talked about

again, vehicle collision is totally valid but vehicle-on-vehicle collision is probably worse than with bricks lol

shaders don't add to gameplay most of the time, but i honestly believe they were added as a distraction from the removal of T+I. the wording of the dev topic was unfortunate and made people believe they were being added in lieu of them.

edit: wtf is up with this forum where did all these posts come from hold on
fair enough.

i guess i was focused more on explaining why it was instead of how it should've been

i agree that if they were an issue they probably should've been removed earlier, but i'm skeptical that it was something the devs were willing to do
alright so what are the promised feature's we'll get in place of t+i?

your implications of stuffing my mouth with disgusting word pudding are untrue and i have a witness

we already got themmmmm

we weren't promised crap

but we are getting quicker updates

therefore
we're getting features

resonte i don't like that

i don't know if that's your thing or something but i don't like it

i just thought you should know because you're making me want to leave the room and i don't know where else to go

Perhaps Badspot was waiting to remove maps until he had something of "equal" value to exchange it with. Which is shaders.

i suck at building.  and i have been playing this game since v10.

also keep in mind not everyone is interested in building and hosting a server

when a massive amount of effortless servers (e.g., freebuild, most rps, etc.) begin appearing, it's a sign that people want to play blockland, but they don't have servers to play on

at this point people figure they can step up and make servers, but the effort isn't there

there's demand but not significant supply

but you can see it appearing.

on the forums, you can see it. in game it's less obvious. but it's starting. there are more unique servers popping up, and they don't seem to be stopping. this is great and it's what we want to see.

if you have an idea for a server that you think will be fun, do it. it's what the game needs.

let's see whats up with these unique servers.

they're popping up day by day i reckon.
