Author Topic: CISPA (Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protect Act) (New SOPA?)  (Read 3079 times)

From my general observations it looks like a bill that will allow private companies to share personal information about us. I posted this just so stir aware and discussion.
companies could probably do this already. it's not like people actually read their privacy policies
you rarely know exactly what you're doing when you click "I agree"

Right. They could have something in big bold letters say "Pressing 'I Agree' will allow us to steal your house and your family." and you'd still press 'I Agree.'

yeah
so
this doesn't really change anything

They could have put "we can rape you" in it and we wouldn't know it.

there are some things that are illegal whether you agree to it or not
well, like
if you knew that they were going to have love with you, and you agreed, then it'd be legal, but if you didn't know, court would probably still rule against the rapist

basically it makes major social networking sites or large companies like google or facebook into legally immune spies for the gov't

the government doesn't really care, for the most part, whether something like that is illegal or not
and it wouldn't "make" them spies anyway, they all have the choice of whether or not to do things
so if they did, that's not the government's fault, and you shouldn't be mad at them; be mad at the company

In that case they could probably bypass with "we can have love with you"

This is a relative possibility; it's very unlikely this will happen.

The main reason for this is to crack down on cyber crime, if you're not doing anything illegal then you don't have anything to worry about, and if you are then you don't get a say.

why don't you get a say if you're doing illegal things? because you're doing illegal things

Because clicking the agree button let's you install your software yet it's not like you signed a contract or anything so who cares

im against it for more of the privacy part of it

i wouldnt want my mom going through my stuff, so why would i want the government?

if you're not doing anything illegal, what's the problem? the government doesn't care if you have secrets you don't want your parents to know

Oh no the FBI is going to tell my parents I suck richard!

But seriously, as others said its not even a big deal honestly. Its not like they really know you.

what is bad about that

im not doing anything illegal, its just the fact that there are some things that need to be kept to myself, and before you know it they'll have tabs on everything, they can simply search someone up and they could tell you what your favorite food is
its just creepy

i dont care what they know, its what they do with that information i care about
