poke around .cs in other mods as well; that's really the best way to learn from what I know. I haven't personally tried to learn coding but I have taken time out to edit weapons and stuff when I needed to. Thankfully torquescript's commands/value names are p straightforward so it doesn't take too much effort to figure out what does what.
