I should adjust colors to Aremac, you did the best job out of the 8x8 dragon sprites I've seen so far. Mine's too fyat :C

You can try using Rotondo's Sprite as a base.
It's really hard to make Oryx's sprites look thinner.

I use black eyes since most of my skins have a light colored skin.
Then I kind of stuck with it now most of my skins have that color.
